Ryan Reynolds has revealed an alternate Deadpool & Wolverine ending that originally involved another character.

Taking to his Instagram page, the star shared a behind-the-scenes clip about the movie’s use of ‘Like a Prayer’, revealing that he first had the idea to include the Madonna hit back in 2017.

Opening up about the movie’s climactic sequence with Wolverine that features the song, Reynolds explained in the comments that the big moment was initially meant to feature X-Men’s Colossus.

“Before Wolverine entered the chat, it was largely gonna be the same motion-control sequence I’d been dreaming about, except my dance partner was originally COLOSSUS,” he shared.

“He would have died in the preceding scene, launching Deadpool into a state of pure rage and revenge… all set to @madonna’s inspired and singular song, Like A Prayer.”

The star said that Hugh Jackman's return “changed the destiny for everyone”, joking: “And Colossus, along with his virginity, stayed intact.”

Reynolds went on to praise his partnerships with director Shawn Levy and Jackman, saying of the latter: “The trust and history between all three of us is the glue.”

He also shared his admiration for “genius” composer Rob Simonsen as well as the Heavenly Voices Choir of South LA and London Contemporary Orchestra.

Deadpool & Wolverine became a huge box office hit upon its release over the summer, opening to $444 million globally before going on to make $1.334 billion worldwide across its run.

Fans can watch the movie digitally now, while a Disney+ release is likely not until next month at the earliest.

Meanwhile, last month Levy revealed a neat Easter egg in the movie regarding Jackman’s role in musical Les Misérables.
