‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Largely Impressed Critics And Audiences
In addition to being a blockbuster hit in theaters, Deadpool & Wolverine was a big winner with critics and viewers.
Rotten Tomatoes critics collectively gave Deadpool & Wolverine a 78% “fresh” rating based on 408 reviews.
The RT Critics Consensus for the movie reads, “Ryan Reynolds makes himself at home in the MCU with acerbic wit while Hugh Jackman provides an Adamantium backbone to proceedings in Deadpool & Wolverine, an irreverent romp with a surprising soft spot for a bygone era of superhero movies.”
The film also received a stellar 94% “fresh” RT Audience Score based on 25,000-plus verified user ratings.
The RT Audience summary reads, “Proving that Marvel can poke fun at itself, Deadpool & Wolverine is chock-full of deep-cut cameos and Easter eggs while also having a lot of heart.”
Deadpool & Wolverine also features several cameos from 20th Century Fox’s Marvel films, including Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm/The Human Torch from Fox’s Fantastic Four films.
In a Zoom conversation prior to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters, Pyro actor Aaron Stanford discussed how fun it was to douse Evans’ return of The Human Torch.
“I loved it. It was a really great unexpected reversal and was absolutely perfect because Pyro’s superpower is highly specialized,” Stanford said. “There’s not a lot of things he can do. There are plenty of mutant superheroes that he could go up against where Pyro wouldn’t stand a chance against. But The Human Torch? That’s not a problem. He messed with the wrong mutant in that circumstance.”
Deadpool & Wolverine debuts on Disney+ on November 12.
